Why

Why we built Muse.

Honest take from the founder.

After 13+ years of building industrial electronics for big customers, I wanted to ship something for the people in my own house.

My kids ask me about weather. About what's for tomorrow. About silly things. So I built a small companion that answers — with a friendly face, not a lecture. That's Muse.

The Muse module we just shipped is the foundation. It handles Wi-Fi, runs the mascot engine, and drives the display. Everything else — weather, calendar, notifications, games — builds on top of it as additional modules.

Same Skytech team. Same Dongguan factory. Same quality standards. Just a smaller, friendlier product.

Development roadmap

Where Muse is going next.

v1 is in your hands. V1.5 is on my bench. Here's the full pipeline through Q1 2027.

v1

v1 — Companion

v1.5

v1.5 — Car Edition

⚙️ Engineering build on Jimmy's bench

A vehicle-mounted variant. Always-on car companion that knows where you parked, watches the cabin, and gives you Wi-Fi the moment you sit down.

  • GNSS — Multi-constellation (GPS + GLONASS + BeiDou + Galileo) for sub-meter positioning
  • Camera — Wide-angle cabin monitoring, motion-triggered clips
  • LTE Cat-1 — Always-connected cloud upload of location + camera events
  • Wi-Fi hotspot — Auto-activates on BLE proximity (your phone walks up = Wi-Fi ready)
  • BLE 5.5 — Setup, configuration, in-car pairing with phone
  • Vehicle power (12V → 5V buck)
v2

v2 — Pocket

📋 Planning Q1 2027

Pocket-sized Muse. Same AI mascot engine, smaller display, cellular-optional. Designed to clip on a bag or keychain.

  • 2" e-ink + small OLED
  • Optional LTE-M modem
  • 2-week battery on e-ink mode
  • Same mascot engine v1 (carries your character across devices)
Live build log

What's happening on Jimmy's bench.

I'm building v1.5 in public. Honest updates, real failures, working hardware.

v1.5 — Car Edition, first PCB on the desk

Just kicked off v1.5. Five new radios (LTE, Wi-Fi 6, BLE 5.5, GNSS, plus the camera interface). The car edition needs to be always-on, always-connected, and not run your battery flat. First prototype board is on my bench now — solder paste, reflow, smoke test. Photos and field notes to come.
